Code Compliance

LavSafe complies with state and local plumbing codes for public lavatories

The 2006 and 2009 International Plumbing Code (IPC) and the 2009 Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) now reference ASSE 1070 devices for limiting hot water temperature for public restroom applications. The traditional solution for code compliance requires installing two devices at the lavatory, the faucet above the deck and the tempering valve below. LavSafe provides an efficient, streamlined solution for compliance in one self-contained, easy-to-install packaged.

 

Among the states that have already adopted IPC 2006 or 2009 are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah. 2006/2009 International Plumbing Codes – Section 416.5

Tempered Water for Public Hand-Washing Facilities. Tempered water shall be delivered from public hand-washing facilities. Tempered water shall be delivered through an approved water temperature-limiting device that conforms to ASSE 1070 or CSA B125.

 

2009 Universal Plumbing Code – Section 413.1

Limitation of Hot Water Temperature for Public Lavatories. Hot water delivered for public-use lavatories shall be limited to a maximum temperature of 120°F (49°C) by a device that conforms to ASSE 1070 or CSA B125.3.
